Welcome to McGill’s House of Karate and Self Defense!

McGill’s House of Karate and Self Defense, established in 2011, is a family-oriented martial arts school with locations in Omemee and Courtice. Ray, the founder, operates it essentially as a not-for-profit endeavor, aiming to provide affordable access to martial arts for everyone. The school emphasizes social activity, teamwork, respect, discipline, and cultivating a positive attitude.

Here are some key points about McGill’s House of Karate:

  1. Inclusive Approach: Ray’s mission is to ensure that all individuals, regardless of age or physical ability, have the opportunity to enjoy martial arts and physical activity. He believes that this inclusive approach is a winning formula for success.

  2. Art Over Profit: Ray’s focus is on teaching the art rather than making money. His passion lies in imparting martial arts knowledge and skills to others.

  3. KEM KA JU: McGill’s House of Karate teaches KEM KA JU, a unique system developed over 50 years. It combines elements from seven different martial arts styles:

    • Shaolin Kempo
    • Shotokan
    • Kyo Ku Shin-Kai
    • Shorin Ryu Karate
    • Jiu-Jitsu
    • Silat
    • Military Close Quarter Combat
  4. Traditional Weapons: Students at McGill’s House of Karate learn not only unarmed techniques but also how to handle traditional weapons such as the bokubatonsword, and fan.

  5. Dojo Locations and Class Schedules:

    • The house Dojo is Mondays from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
    • Royal Canadian Legion, Omemee: Classes take place on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
