HONORING Fallen Samurai

I had enjoyed the pleasure of being taught by some of the finest most knowledgeable martial artists.  I enjoyed every minute I shared with them, and I am eternally grateful to them for their patience and teaching skills.  Thank you for guiding me in my martial arts journey.  I am humbled for being your student and honored to be your friend.

To my first Karate Sensei, thank you Sensei Kenny Hum for enlightening me and creating my passion for martial arts. Thank you Sensei Hum.

June 14 2012, I bow with respect because at 11:35 pm, a great student of martial arts passed away.  Sensei Joe was McGill’s House of Karate first Black Belt.  Sensei Joe Fairfield, started training around 1975 with Benny and over the years he raised his family, looked after his farm and was a friend to the Community.  A little over a year ago he got sick, he fought an impressive fight against all odds.  When we started the Karate Dojo in Omemee Joe was there to lend his support, almost every training night Sensei Joe came to watch and encourage. For his 35 years of dedication, demonstrating all the principles and philosophy of respect, integrity, humility, and courage, the cornerstones of all martial arts, I promoted him to Shodan, and presented his McGill’s House of Karate Black Belt.  He was so humble in the face of his adversity to receive it.  Sensei Joe will be at my right hand every training night, rest in peace my friend, and thank you for everything you taught me, and all those wonderful memories you gave me, and we shared.
